Question 1

What areas can you survey with a drone?

Accepted Answer

We can survey almost any area that can be safely accessed by drone, from small development sites to large-scale construction projects. Our surveys are particularly suited to construction sites, housing developments, earthworks, quarries, land developments, stockpiles, infrastructure projects and large areas of open land.Drone surveying allows large and difficult-to-access areas to be captured quickly, providing detailed data without the need for survey teams to spend extended periods working across the site. Before each survey, we assess the site and any operational requirements to ensure the survey can be carried out safely and effectively.

Question 2

What deliverables do I receive?

Accepted Answer

Every survey includes a complete set of survey deliverables as standard, all included within the price. From a single drone survey, you receive orthomosaic imagery, point clouds, digital terrain and surface models, 3D models and contours, providing you with the data you need to carry out your own analysis. The survey data allows you to calculate earthworks volumes, complete cut-and-fill analysis, carry out stockpile calculations and compare surveys over time — all from the same survey dataset. There are no additional charges for individual data outputs, giving you a comprehensive dataset to analyse, measure and monitor your development.

Question 3

Can Drone Surveys Capture Areas With Dense Vegetation?

Accepted Answer

Drone surveys can capture areas with trees, vegetation and foliage, but dense tree cover and foliage can affect what the survey can accurately measure at ground level.Photogrammetry works by capturing visible surfaces, so where the ground is obscured by dense vegetation or tree canopy, the resulting data may represent the top of the vegetation rather than the underlying ground.

Question 4

What information do I need to provide before a survey?

Accepted Answer

We keep the process simple. Before a survey, we typically need the site location and boundaries, along with any specific areas you would like us to include. We also ask for a suitable location within the build compound for a semi-permanent ground control point. This should be in a secure, accessible position that is clearly visible from the air and unlikely to be disturbed during the project. This provides a consistent reference point for accurate and repeatable surveys. We will confirm any access requirements and arrange a suitable date for the survey. We take care of the survey planning, capture and processing, keeping the process as straightforward as possible for you.
